Silicone based (liquid) Defoamers

Silicone defoamers and silicone antifoams contain non-ionic surfactants & functional additives. With the help of different surfactants, various types of Silicone antifoams and Silicone antifoam emulsion can be formed. Depending upon the nature of surfactants such as non-ionic, cationic, anionic or amphoteric, the liquid can be either aqueous, non-aqueous or both. These silicone antifoam emulsions are the result of dissolved actives in a liquid that alter the surface tension of the liquid.

Silicone Defoamers for Aqueous Systems are emulsions of highly hydrophobic silicone oils. As a result they are intended for higher-quality coating formulations. Silicone defoamers can also be combined with hydrophobic solids to increase the defoaming effect. Silicone defoamers do not affect gloss in high-gloss systems and do not impact on color paste acceptance when using color pastes.
